our class wiki

I have posted some articles in the New Media and Music section of our class wiki, and provided links to 2 music related websites, that I personally use and think are that they can be very useful to others also. Even though our class wiki doesn't contain as much information as the "Wikipedia", it is gradually growing by each individual contribution that we make. I enjoy music a lot and this is why I choose to edit this page. New media has changed the way we hear, obtain and discover music in many ways and it is very important that we keep ourselves updated with all the new beneficial technologies that we can use. This is what makes our class wiki a very useful tool as it keeps us up to date and on point with all current news and information. It has also taught me the proper way how to post and edit on a wiki.

My term Project Presentation

Hello guys, my name is David Cassar and here is a brief summary of the presentation I presented to the class last Thursday. I started off the presentation by describing how old media is replacing new media, and also how people are using illegal file sharing methods to download music, instead of purchasing tracks the legal way through websites like iTunes or Rhapsody. I then presented the following questions to the class, along with a brief discussion for each. The questions were; "What is 'Music Piracy'?", "Is Music Piracy stealing?", "Why do you download illegally?", "Is the internet helping the internet and also destroying it?', "Who is suffering the most?", "Whose responsibility is it?", "Are there any potential solutions to this problem?", and finally "Will there be and end to music piracy?". Following each individual question I provided answers based on the research I did through the Baruch online reserve databases, online sites and statistical information that i found. I also included my personal thoughts and insight regarding these debatable questions. Based on all the research and information found,
one may conclude that Music Piracy is indeed stealing and it can only be reduced and not eliminated at this current point of time. It is increasing rapidly over the past years and is greatly affecting the profits of practically everybody working in the Music Industry such as artists, bands, record labels, producers etc. For now the government must take action immediately by educating the young and also by controlling these pirate sites.
